Take a question beyond the conference

Imagine leaving Business of Design Week with a notebook full of ideas. Materials. Better spaces. Brands that know exactly who they serve.

Then comes the harder question: what would you actually change in your business?

Business of Design Week 2026 runs in Hong Kong from 16 to 21 November, with its Summit at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 18 to 20 November. Switzerland is this year's partner country, under the theme “Design in Dialogue: Connect + Transform.”

The organiser's website advertises 50+ creative leaders and 40+ sessions. That is plenty of inspiration. The value lies in choosing a question worth taking beyond the conference.

Different investors, different questions

For a PE operating partner, that might be: where does product experience support a portfolio company's positioning, and where does it create friction?

For a VC partner: what makes a new product understandable and useful enough for someone to try it?

For a family-office principal: which observations challenge the assumptions behind a long-term business thesis?

Observe, then investigate

A Shenzhen extension can give those questions a practical setting. Start with public retail spaces, products and neighbourhoods. Watch how a device is demonstrated. Compare the promise on the wall with the experience in your hand. Notice what is easy, what needs explaining and what leaves you unconvinced.

Treat those observations as questions to investigate, rather than proof of demand or investment merit.

The point is to arrive with a sharper brief and leave knowing what still needs testing.

Futurebound Private shapes privately commissioned Shenzhen programmes around your business question, with local context and a debrief. Any company conversation depends on individual host approval.
